Filmmaker, photographer, writer, and traveler Chris Marker has never
respected the boundaries between genres. His landmark 1962 film La Jetée
is made up almost entirely of stills, its one moving image as thrilling
as the Lumières’ films must have been for their original audiences.
Since then, Marker’s films (including the features Sans Soleil, A Grin without a Cat, The Last Bolshevik, and Level Five)
have continued to stretch the definition of the art, merging at times
with the essay, political manifesto, personal letter, even the computer
In Immemory, Chris Marker has used the format of the CD-Rom
to create a multi-layered, multimedia memoir. The reader investigates
“zones” of travel, war, cinema, and poetry, navigating through
photographs, film clips, music, and text, as if physically exploring
Marker’s memory itself. The result is a veritable 21st-century Remembrance of Things Past, an exploration of the state of memory in our digital era. With it, Marker has both invented a literary form and perfected it.
Macintosh and Windows compatible.

Here's a new simple solution
Here's a great solution to discover this incredible artistic work. It's a web emulator for Mac OS9.
Just follow the link, draw the downloads file of the Cd-Rom ("Chris Marker - Immemory -1998") in the os window. Restart (not your computer, just the emulator), and you're done. Enjoy!

Answer to Heroslimitelimite about Immemory on Mac OS 9
Hi Heroslimitelimite. There actually can be some ways for you to browse through Immemory in spite of it being obsolete on current mac OS versions. One option is to run it through an emulator capable of running mac OS 9. It means a bit of setting up time but it is far from impossible, I do it myself on a regular basis to view Immemory and study it, and it runs quite well. There won't be any version of this CD-ROM disk image running under mac OS 10, it's technically impossible without entirely translating its code. If ever you see this comment what you can do is first visit this website to check if you manage to get it running (it's an online version of Immemory transformed and translated into flash for Centre Pompidou in 2012) : http://gorgomancy.net/
. The only problem being the fact that even flash is now getting obsolete. If ever you manage to still view flash content in your current browser, you might manage to view Immemory online thanks to this. Otherwise your best option is emulation to be able to read the ISO capture of the Cd-rom. The best tool for this is SheepShaver, it allows to run mac OS 9 on your current OS. But it asks for some tech solving time. Otherwise you can contact me if you need advise on this and need to view it for research purposes, I might be able to help. I have a linkedin page if you look up my name.

stampless postcard hoping to arrive
Thank you very much for making available this file.
Sadly, I cannot run it on my mac with the version 10.15.7...
Is there any possibility for another rip that would run on this version ?
That would mean the world for me.
